  • The MacBride Winter League continued last week with members faced with some tough conditions. Nevertheless the members turned out in force and some great scores were carded.
    Week three saw Owen Campbell taking top spot with a fantastic score of 87 (3 bonus points) while Peter Woods also had a great 36 holes after shooting an 89 (2 bonus points), and Ian Donnelly in third place with a score of 90 (one bonus points).
    The league continues on Wednesdays at 1.30pm and on Sunday at 10am.
    With the spring weather now slowly coming upon us, there hasn’t been a better time to come to MacBride and try out the game of pitch and putt, MacBride is located behind Weir Hope on the Marsh Road and always open to new members and Green Fees.
    The members of MacBride Pitch and Putt Club would like to offer their sincerest condolences to the McGinn family on the passing of Bernie.

  • Scratch Cup Thriller
  • Owen Smith Scratch Cup Winner 2011

OWEN Smith took victory in the annual John McKenna Memorial Scratch Cup on Sunday at MacBride Pitch and Putt Club where he recorded a total score of 25 under par to take home the cup this year.
Smith was on fine form and put in an amazing performance on the turn for home where he birdied the last five holes to secure victory ahead of defending champion Declan McConville from the Cloghoghue club in Newry. 
McConville shot a score of 23 under while Ian Farrelly of Bellewstown came home with a score of 21 under. Mark Millar registered a fine round of 45 gross for his final 18 holes. Congratulations Owen.
Meanwhile the Open Scotch Foursomes took place over four days last week and there was some great scoring. The Mixed 36 Nett was won be Mickey and Noleen Bedford; The 36 Gross winners were Oliver and Jean Cooney; 18 Nett winners were Peter Kelly and Mavis Campbell while the 18 Gross winners were Ian Donnelly and Noelle Martin. Marlo Everitt and Bridie Hanratty won the ladies 36 Nett while Geraldine Ward and Sheila Elmes won the 36 Gross. Ladies 18 Nett C. White & A. McKenna. Gents 36 Nett winners were J&P Leddy while Ian Donnelly and Chris Murray took the 36 Gross. The 18 Nett was won by David Judge and Jess Collins with the 18 Gross won by Ian Donnelly and Owen Smith.
The Turkey season starts next week Wednesday 5th October at 1.30pm.
